Frank premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The music is stellar: The head idea came from Chris Sievey and The Freshies, a 70s punk band of which the film’s writer Jon Ronson was a member. He also gave us The Men Who Stare at Goats and wrote The Psychopath Test, of which I’m a fan.. I like Frank for the sheer character focus, how punk it is in spirit, and the soundtrack. It didn’t hurt to have SXSW be part of the plot, since I’m going back this year, and love it. I’ve watched it twice now on Netflix and, if this were a real band, I’d be a fan of that too. This film got a 92% critic score at Rotten Tomatoes.
