Tracking an Experimental Life
One can deliberately choose a life or live it by accident; most people do some of both. As the pilot of an experimental life, I like to know where I've been and see my trajectory. It allows for course adjustments for the life I'm always engaged in choosing. I think this is key to having a life I love.
You might also say (with Michael Corleone) that I have the life I've chosen. Or, as Thoreau frames it, "I wished to live deliberately." I find that living deliberately requires an instrument. And even the best mental records are difficult to sort analytically without externalizing them. So I create timelines or, if you will, flight records of my years piloting this vessel.
